FAQs

Good question! Prior to painting you want to consider if you want to install recessed lights; replace outdated light switches and outlets; or install new or additional crown molding and millwork (ie: chair rails, wainscoting, etc.). After these updates are done, then it’s time to start painting.

This is a great question, and something that unfortunately is widely overlooked when it comes to taking care of homes. It is very important to ensure all surfaces are properly sealed and protected from the elements. If you neglect your home’s exterior for too long, it can lead to more costly repairs down the road. If you notice flaking paint, cracked caulk joints, and faded surfaces – then it is most likely time to give your home's exterior some attention.

Here are some common examples of ways to add accents and molding to elevate the interior of your home:
• Install wainscoting to your dining room for a more elegant look
• Install paneled ceilings to a dining room, kitchen or office
• Install crown molding to a specific room or throughout your home
Unless you are replacing all the millwork within your home, we suggest when introducing new millwork that the style and profiles selected are complementary to your existing moldings.

As tempting as it may be to revamp your home’s interior to make it your own, we usually recommend you work from the outside in to ensure the home’s envelope is properly sealed and weather tight. This is a priority to help fix any issues and remedy any unforeseen repairs in the future, which sets you up for the most success when you start renovating the interior. Additional note, it is very important to know the life expectancy of all mechanicals throughout your home so you can budget to replace them before a problem happens.
